Located in the middle of Monroe County, Ida Township is home to the Village of Ida and is a center for agriculture. The Ida landscape is often open and is a prime example of Midwestern farming communities.
With direct routes to US-23, Ida remains accessible to commuters while offering peaceful country living. Ida Public Schools rests on a 46 acre campus The Township Hall and library can be found surrounding the village of Ida, a one-stoplight town with friendly faces and folks that know your name.
The Ida Farmers Co-Op Co. makes an impressive presence. It is used by farmers from miles around for fertilizers, chemicals, feeds, seeds, seed cleaning, grinding and animal health. The vast silos can be seen from far off in the distance.
As of the 2000 census there were 4,949 residents in 1,622 households with an average household income of $57,106.
Inner township recreation consists of the Ida Township Park located on the same parcel as the township hall, library and fire hall. Facilities include a half-court basketball court, 4 horseshoe pits, a grouping of play equipment (climbing structure, swings, slides), a small building used primarily for scout meetings, and fire pit. Other parks include Fireman’s Park, a 5.3 acre facility containing 2 ball diamonds, a concession stand, restrooms, picnic shelter, volleyball court, and a rental hall.
Ida Township is made up of 36.8 square miles of farmlands, woodland and creeks. Only .27% is water; however, Dunbar Rd. and Albain Rd offer direct access to Lake Erie, a ten to fifteen minute drive to the east.
