... Exeter Township
of Monroe County, Michigan ...

Exeter Township was originally organized and brought together in 1836. The name of the township comes from the New York State birthplace of the area’s first official postmaster, Henry Palmer.

Exeter includes the village of Maybee where one can find the local library, gas station, main street shops, restaurants, and bars. Maybee’s population consists of approximately 500 out of the townships over 3,700 residents.

The majority of residents of high school age attend the Monroe High School, located approximately 5 miles from the center of Maybee.

Baptist, Lutheran, and Methodist denominational churches are some of the most prevalent churches throughout Exeter.

Like many places in Monroe County, Exeter Township is known for its vast farmland and old farm houses. The crops consist mostly of corn and beans. And it’s not unusual to see horses or cows resting or at play throughout the area.
